We celebrated the World Oceans Day with a Cleanup!
22.07.2024
Last month, we celebrated World Oceans Day!
One of SEEDS' main activities is our Coastal Clean Ups.
Besides our monthly Coast Care Sunday, every 9 days we organize at least 2 clean ups. Our short-term volunteers, led by amazing Environmental Camp Leaders, come together to clean the Icelandic landscape and prevent tons of trash from reaching the ocean.
On World Oceans Day, volunteers from all over Iceland joined forces to clean coastlines in the North, South, East, and West. SEEDS 024. Environmentally Aware & Trash Hunting, SEEDS 022. Paths & Trails in the East of Iceland, SEEDS 033. Forestry and Tree Planting in the North and SEEDS 034. Selárdalur in the Westfjords were miles apart, but united in purpose, collecting over 100Kg of trash! In the evening they helped our friends Whales of Iceland with a wonderful event full of ocean enthusiasts, who shared some of the problems we face in protecting this important biosphere of our planet.
