Visit to Latvia and Lithuania!

Laba diena! We visited our partner organisations, Laiks Jauniešiem from Latvia and Visuomenės ir verslo plėtros institutas from Lithuania, as part of our Norden project “Being a quality volunteer is cool” in Bauska.
During our stay in beautiful Latvia, all three organisations had the opportunity to present their own experiences and perspectives on volunteering, mentoring, and working with locals. The goal was to empower each other, get inspired by the way others approach volunteering, and to strengthen and celebrate these partnerships.
Laiks Jauniešiem showed us a local after-school organisation that gives youngsters the space to set their creative minds free, whether by doing pottery, animation, drawing, or arts and crafts - everything was there! Moreover, we got to speak with the mayor of Bauska about what kind of projects Bauska’s residents and youngsters are involved in and how important the Laiks JauniešiemLaiks Jauniešiem’s youth work is.
But not only that - we got to experience the beauty of nature, architecture, and history of Latvia, which celebrated its independence and the restoration of the Republic of Latvia on the 4th of May. We saw people celebrating, beautiful castles, rivers, and the greenest woods.
At the end of our stay, we went to a local festival for youth which gave us the opportunity to learn how to spray graffiti on the topic of “Diversity”. It was great to see how people express themselves differently, but what we all had in common is our belief that diversity should be celebrated.
