Reflecting on a Year of Community work at Alviðra
23.10.2023
As winter blankets the landscape, we have concluded our final camp of the year at Alviðra. We want to take this opportunity to look back on our work at this community house, and the warmth and beautiful memories we received in return. Alviðra, nestled in the heart of an old farm, serves as an environmental-education center. The house at the foot of the mountain and surrounded by horse meadows has been our second home during several summer camps.
At Alviðra, there was always work to be done. From gardening in the community garden, to restoring and transforming the old barn. We broke the old, worn floor, and constructed new elements for the barn. As a finishing touch, we hung our hand-painted artwork to brighten up the place.
The bridge stands as another proud testament to our efforts. Once a modest structure, it now boldly showcases the vibrant colors of the rainbow, symbolizing unity and acceptance. Every endeavor, whether in the garden or within the barn, underscores our shared commitment to making Alviðra a place where people of all ages can come together, play, create, and learn.
Thank you to the Alviðra community for your warm welcome and the incredible memories we've created together. See you again next summer!
